Anzac Day  : the forgotten men

Pictures of the young men flocking to sign up to serve their country in 1915 (Western Mail, December 25, 1915) are poignant as we increasingly come to understand what happened next.

Two recent projects undertaken show a light on some of those whose stories are not so easily found, and often hidden from public view.

Paper to pixels partnership digitises 95,000 First World War Records

Those who didn't quite make it:  Attestation papers of the young men who signed up for WW1, but were deemed unfit to serve.

Released by the National Archives and Ancestry.com these are now searchable on both platforms.
