Gems From AJCP Trove #1

A large number of links to records sets of the Australian Joint Copying Project on Trove have recently been added to Geni Links

This little gem from the National Library of Ireland is a letter from Michael Collins (Justice Minister in the Irish Government and one o fthe heroes of the Irish struggle for independence) to Michael O'Dea of Perth. Collins was assassinated later the same year. I need to do some more research but it is highly possible that Michael O'Dea was the Michael O'Dea from Bowra & O'Dea who is a relative of mine.

You may need to scroll up. Look for a reference to Michael Collins.

I have now done some more research. It turns out that Michael O'Dea represented Western Australia at the Irish Race Convention in Paris in 1920! He was in fact the husband of my great grandaunt Mary Bridget Hayman (the daughter of a convict!). I guess that makes him my great granduncle by marriage.

There is an amazing amount of stuff waiting to be found! Check out the links for AJCP Trove under Geni Links and see what you can find!

Thanks for writing about this Neil. It's great that the AJCP is becoming so much more accessible.
