If you enjoy social history and the decorative arts, I suggest you watch the third series of Secrets of the Museum, currently available on ABC iView.

VAMuseum-4-5c882027c9e77c0001f2ad38The cameras go behind the scenes at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum filming curators and conservators as they prepare many of their fascinating acquisitions for exhibition. Faberge eggs, the Museum's oldest teddy bear, royal jewellery, comics, theatre costumes, oriental textiles and mezzotints. The variety is endless.

One of the segments in a previous series showed the staff as they prepared the costume worn by Fawlty Tower's Manuel, complete with soup stains, for display. It had been donated to the museum by the actor who created that lovable character, the late Andrew Sachs.

Highly recommended....
