Jennifer Durrant and Cheryl Rogers will be speaking about their book, Finding Marjorie King. This will be followed by our mid-year lunch so come along and bring a plate to share.

Jennifer Durrant spent much of her life wondering about the secrets in her beautiful mother Marjorie’s past. As a little girl, she would look at a framed portrait of the strikingly attractive young Asian woman, and myriad questions would fly through her mind. Why were there no photographs of her Mum as a child? Why were there no visitors to their Swan Valley farm from her Mum’s family? Why did her Mum get so upset whenever Jennifer questioned her? As years turned to decades, Jennifer’s writer and researcher friend Cheryl Rogers was drawn into the search. It was 2018 before the truth was revealed, 11 years after Marjorie’s death. Together, Jennifer and Cheryl have written ‘Finding Marjorie King – a daughter’s journey to discover her mother’s identity’, released March 2022 by Big Sky Publishing and distributed by Simon and Schuster.

Their presentation will cover Jennifer’s long journey towards discovery, some of the pitfalls of family history research, and the writing journey towards publication.
