FamilyHistoryWA and the Irish Special Interest Group are pleased to present a day of Irish family history tips and hints on Tuesday, 13th February, 2024 at the Alexander Library theatrette.
In a return visit to Perth, Fintan Mullen and Gillian Hunt from the Ulster Historical Foundation will present five sessions covering all counties. You are invited to join us in person in Perth. (Apologies, unfortunately the online option has been withdrawn).
Session 1
Understanding Irish townlands: the importance of place, identity and administrative division in Irish research.
Session 2
Church records for use in Irish genealogy: births, deaths and marriages.
Lunch - you will need to make your own arrangements for lunch.
Session 3
Using printed sources for Irish family history: street directories, Ordinance Survey memoirs, British Parliamentary Papers etc
Session 4
An introduction to the archives or Ireland and Northern Ireland and their websites
Afternoon Tea will be provided (no hot drinks possible)
Session 5
The importance of gravestone inscriptions and funerary monuments in Irish research.
Registration commences at 9.30 am and the day closes at 4.40 pm.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
- FHWA Members will receive a 20% discount on the full ticket price. The discount will be applied at checkout provided the member has logged into the website using the account associated with their membership.
- An early bird price of $115 will be in place until 31 January 2024. From 1 February 2024 the full ticket price of $130.00 will apply.
- Tickets will be sold in single units. Each member must log in and purchase their own ticket.
- All ticket sales are final. No refund or credit will be given. You are not entitled to a refund if you change your mind, or if you are unable to attend for any reason. However, you may make private arrangements with another person to sell or exchange the ticket. FHWA will not be able to provide assistance in any such arrangement.
- Access to suitable internet connectivity will be the responsibility of the ticket holder.
- The event will be recorded, filmed and photographed. In purchasing a ticket you consent to being filmed or photographed by FHWA or its representatives and to FHWA using your name, likeness, image and/or voice in such films or photographs for the purpose of promoting our events and services.
