The FHWA London, South England and Wales Special Interest Group covers all the southern counties of England plus Wales.  We meet quarterly and keep in contact by e-mail between meetings.

Our Motto: We learn by helping each other

Our goal is to increase our understanding of our region and its history, to help us with our research - where our ancestors might be found, what they did, how they lived. We have created a series of County Guides in PDF format for each of the English counties we cover. We will be adding these to our page as they are finalised. If you are researching in any of these counties we hope you find these guides useful.  We also help each other with queries and problems... we may not be able to solve all your problems, but we often come up with ideas to follow up. And we're very sympathetic!  Come along to one of our meetings - you'll be very welcome.

We meet at 11 am every three months on the third Saturday of March, June, and September, plus the first Saturday of December. Meetings are held at FHWA (Unit 4/48 May Street, Bayswater) with some members joining us online in a mixed mode (hybrid) format. At each meeting, one or two of our members leads a short discussion on a specific topic. As well, we spend time looking at successes, problems and queries. We're a self-help group, aiming to improve our general knowledge of London, the South of England, and all of Wales, as well as helping to solve members' problems.

The English counties of interest to the group are:

Bedfordshire (BDF), Berkshire (BRK), Buckinghamshire (BKM), Cambridgeshire (CAM), Cornwall (CON), Devon (DEV), Dorset (DOR), Essex (ESS), Gloucestershire (GLS), Hampshire (HAM), Herefordshire (HEF), Hertfordshire (HRT), Huntingdonshire (HUN), Kent (KEN), London (LND), Middlesex (MDX), Monmouthshire (MON), Norfolk (NFK), Northamptonshire (NTH), Oxfordshire (OXF), Somerset (SOM), Suffolk (SFK), Surrey (SRY), Sussex (SSX), Warwickshire (WAR), Wiltshire (WIL), Worcestershire (WOR).
