ABOUT US
Our group formed in 2018, to support, encourage and inspire members when writing about their family history.
If you don't know where to start with your family history story and would like to go beyond just names and dates, please
COME & JOIN US
We welcome new members. Meetings are generally on the first Wednesday of each month, and include presentations, international speakers, workshops and interactive discussions. With mornings, evenings, online and face-to-face meetings, we strive to provide a suitable time and place for everyone to join us. See our monthly drop down menu for details.
Our active writing members share and collaborate on writing ideas. To date over 1100 stories have been written since inception.
Suggested topics are used by members for inspiration in their monthly writing challenge, or they can follow their own choice. To assist with improving our writing, members are encouraged to read and comment upon other members' monthly stories.

Our "world first" combined online meeting with Genealogical Society of Victoria's (GSV) Writers Circle and FHWA Writers Group was well attended with at least 40 attendees. Two GSV group members kindly offered their stories open for discussion and feedback, which resulted in enthusiastic conversation from both West and East writers

Author, Murray Hall, kept our audience's attention as he walked us through his experiences over more than five years of researching, visiting special places, documenting and writing about his Great Uncle, a soldier in 'The Great War'. Finally, culminating in his publishing an easy-to-read, incredibly informative, yet personal book that is not just about WWI, but Australia and Australians during this tumultuous time.

Using "Snapfish" online to produce an appealing small book for children was ably demonstrated by Sue. Various book designs, sizes and layouts were shown, proving this to be a most effective way to produce a Family History story book, not just for kids, but for all your family to enjoy.
